Job summary

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks an experienced Environmental Consultant to serve as Project Manager for complex contaminated sites, including Superfund and state-led cleanups. This senior role requires coordinating contracts, reviews, and site investigations to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Four years of verifiable related experience in engineering, environmental science or one of the natural sciences (year-for-year may substitute a degree) and credential evaluation for foreign degrees.
• Valid Driver’s License; Travel is required.
• Complete 40-hour OSHA safety training within six months of employment and annual refreshers.

Responsibilities

• Manage contracts for site assessment and remediation; prepare scopes of work and cost estimates; negotiate elements with contractors.
• Coordinate with U.S. EPA on NPL Superfund sites; review documents; participate in remedial alternative selection.
• Provide technical guidance on contamination assessments, hydrogeology, and remediation; ensure statewide cleanup consistency.
• Assist in coordinating site acceptance into State-led cleanup; liaise with CERCLA Site Screening, EPA, and district offices.
