Apex Engineering Group is seeking a flexible, experienced Environmental Planner to support NEPA documentation, permitting, and environmental services across transportation and water projects. The role involves coordination with public agencies, proposal development, and collaboration with project managers.

The position emphasizes independent and team work, with opportunities to expand environmental services to public and private clients and to contribute to strategic growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, natural resource management, environmental science, biology, or related field.
• 5+ years’ environmental planning and permitting experience with NEPA documents.
• Experience with transportation projects and public agencies in ND/MN preferred.
• Experience authoring Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements preferred.
• Proficient with Windows/Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare NEPA documentation for projects (EA/EIS/CE).
• Assist business development and marketing for environmental work with clients.
• Prepare technical proposals with project managers and market leaders.
• Contribute to project pursuit by participating in interviews.
• Review permits related to Clean Water Act and USFWS consultations.
• Collaborate with transportation team and attend meetings as needed.
• Assist in budget development for planning work.
• Support hiring of environmental staff as needed.
