Job summary

Apex Engineering Group seeks a Senior Environmental Planner to oversee NEPA documentation and environmental permitting for transportation and water projects. The role supports public/private clients, collaborates with project managers, and helps grow environmental services across ND and MN.

The position involves remote and office-based work within 100 miles of North Dakota offices, travel to meetings, and leading environmental planning efforts to advance new opportunities while ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in planning, natural resource management, environmental science, biology, ecology or related field.
• 5+ years environmental planning and permitting experience with NEPA.
• Experience with transportation projects and ND/MN agencies preferred.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare NEPA documentation including Environmental Assessments, EIS and Categorical Exclusions.
• Engage in business development and marketing for environmental work with clients.
• Prepare technical proposals with project managers and team leaders.
• Contribute to project pursuits by participating in interviews for environmental planning efforts.
• Prepare permits under Clean Water Act sections and USFWS consultations.
• Review wetland delineations and jurisdictional determinations by agencies.
• Participate in meetings, budgeting, and cross-project collaboration.
