Job summary

Apex Engineering Group seeks a senior environmental planner to lead NEPA documentation and permitting efforts across transportation and water projects in North Dakota and Minnesota. You will develop proposals, coordinate with public agencies, and help grow the environmental practice.

The role requires strong communication, independent judgement, and the ability to work both independently and with a team. Occasional travel and in-person meetings are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, natural resource management, environmental science, biological science, ecology or related field.
• 5+ years of environmental planning and permitting experience requiring NEPA document preparation and environmental permitting.
• Experience with transportation projects and public agencies in ND/MN preferred.
• Specialized experience in Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements preferred.
• Proficient with Windows/Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Prepare NEPA documentation including Environmental Assessments, EIS, and CEs.
• Assist in business development and marketing for environmental work with existing and potential clients.
• Prepare technical proposals for project pursuits with other PMs and market leaders.
• Contribute to project pursuits by participating in interviews for environmental planning projects.
• Prepare permits related to Clean Water Act Sections 10/404 and 401 WQC and USFWS Section 7 consultations.
• Review field/office wetlands delineations and agency determinations.
