Apex Engineering Group, Inc. seeks a senior environmental professional to contribute to transportation and water projects across ND and MN. The role involves NEPA documentation, environmental permitting, and strong client coordination within a flexible, multi-office/remote environment.

Responsibilities include preparing EA/EISs, supporting business development, and developing technical proposals. Travel within the region and collaboration with project managers are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, natural resource management, environmental science, biology or related field.
• 5+ years of environmental planning and permitting experience.
• Experience with transportation projects and public agencies in ND/MN preferred.
• Specialized experience authoring Environmental Assessments/EIS is preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows/Office products; excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare NEPA documentation (EA, EIS, CE) for projects.
• Support business development and marketing for environmental work.
• Prepare technical project proposals with other managers and market leaders.
• Contribute to project pursuits by participating in interviews.
• Prepare permits under CWA Sections 10/404 and 401 Water Quality Certifications; USFWS Section 7 Consultations.
• Review wetland delineations and agency determinations.
• Participate in meetings and seminars with transportation team and staff.
• Assist with budget development for planning work.
• Help recruit environmental staff as needed.
• Communicate effectively with the public in meetings and notifications.
• Think independently, follow safety policies, and work both independently and in a team.
• Participate in professional organizations and community leadership.
