Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an experienced Environmental Engineer to serve as Environmental Project Manager or Program Manager for transportation initiatives through environmental planning, analyses, permitting, and compliance.

The role requires a current Professional Engineer license, with 2 years of licensed experience or 6 years of professional engineering experience; location is East Baton Rouge and reports to Engineer 7.

Qualifications

• Louisiana PE license required; licenses from other states acceptable with transfer.
• Two years of licensed engineering experience or six years of professional engineering experience.
• Master's/Doctorate substitutions apply for experience; no substitution for licensure.

Responsibilities

• Serves as technical expert in environmental engineering and permitting for transportation projects.
• Conducts environmental analyses, field investigations, and permit evaluations (e.g., Section 404/10, Coast Guard).
• Reviews plans, specs, and reports; develops environmental policies and procedures.
• Coordinates with agencies, stakeholders, and public meetings; supports regulatory compliance.
• Prepares environmental documentation and identifies mitigation measures.
• Manages consultant contracts and directs project teams in the assigned area.
• Provides guidance to engineers and staff; participates in emergency/disaster support.
