Job summary

The Charter County of Wayne, based in Detroit, seeks a Department Manager 2 to lead the On-Site Septic and Food Safety programs within the Public Health division. Responsibilities include supervising staff, enforcing state and county codes, and ensuring program compliance and performance.

Qualified candidates possess a relevant Bachelor's degree, plus RS/REHS credentials and Michigan driver's license; prior management experience in environmental health is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with major in Environmental Health, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent and basic science credits.
• Credential RS/REHS required at appointment and must be maintained during tenure.

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement policies for section compliance and enforcement.
• Supervise Environmental Compliance Technicians in on-site and food programs.
• Enforce and regulate wastewater and well construction standards.
• Enforce and regulate the on-site sewage disposal and well ordinances; train evaluators.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or the Physical, Chemical or Natural Sciences, or equivalent
