Job summary

Allegan County Government is seeking a manager for the environmental health field program to enforce state and county sanitation laws and safeguard public health. The role issues permits for wells, septic systems, and food establishments, and acts as an expert resource for sanitarians across the county.

The position leads training, reviews plans, coordinates with stakeholders, and conducts inspections to ensure compliance with EGLE and MDHHS regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Environmental Health, Public Health, Biology or Chemistry.
• Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist or Sanitarian is required.

Responsibilities

• Manages the environmental health field program and serves as expert resource to sanitarians.
• Issues permits for wells, septic systems, soil erosion and sedimentation control, food establishments, and enforces health laws.
• Trains new staff and conducts performance evaluations using QA data.
• Manages budgets, approves timesheets, PTO, and purchase orders for field staff.
