Job summary

Wayne County seeks a Department Manager 2 to lead the On-Site Septic and Well Program and the Food Safety program within Public Health. You will supervise staff, review work, conduct QA audits, and ensure grant compliance while delivering technical expertise.

You will establish policies, enforce county and state specifications, prepare summaries, and assist with program reviews and emergencies on rotation. Bachelor’s in EH, RS/REHS, and Michigan driver's license required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with required science coursework and math/statistics
• RS/REHS credential required at appointment and maintained
• Michigan driver's license and daily-use vehicle

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement policies and procedures for section compliance and enforcement.
• Supervise Environmental Compliance Technicians and coordinate priorities.
• Enforce county and state specifications for on-site sewage disposal systems and well construction codes.
• Prepare periodic summaries of on-site activity, compliance and enforcement actions.
• Assist with the Food Program and related audits and reviews.
• Respond to emergencies and be on-call after hours on rotation.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health or related field
