Job summary

Arcadis in Novi, MI is seeking a Principal Environmental Specialist to lead regulatory, permitting, and restoration projects across the United States on a part-time, as-needed basis with hybrid work options.

The role requires 25+ years in environmental restoration and strong knowledge of RCRA and related programs; Master’s preferred. Travel up to 15% and opportunities to advise clients and shape strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
• 25+ years of experience in environmental restoration, regulatory compliance, permitting, or environmental consulting.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including RCRA and related cleanup programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical and regulatory leadership for environmental restoration, remediation, permitting, compliance, and emerging contaminant projects.
• Develop and implement regulatory and stakeholder engagement strategies that support successful project outcomes.
• Advise clients on federal and state environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and compliance obligations.
• Lead interactions and negotiations with regulators, government agencies, tribal entities, and other stakeholders.
• Support business development by identifying and pursuing growth opportunities with existing and new clients.
