Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist for leadership in environmental compliance across major energy and infrastructure projects in the western United States. You will oversee field inspection teams, monitor regulatory requirements, and guide environmental program execution for large transmission upgrades.

This role emphasizes mentoring, client engagement, and project management, with travel across California, Nevada, and Arizona.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Planning, Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, regulatory oversight, and project management, preferably on major infrastructure, energy, transmission, utility, transportation, or water projects.
• Experience leading construction-phase environmental compliance programs and overseeing field personnel or compliance inspection teams.
• Working knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and related environmental regulations.
• Experience coordinating with BLM and other federal, state, and local agencies.
• Ability to interpret permits, mitigation requirements, and environmental commitments into field procedures.
• Strong project management, documentation, and problem-solving skills with risk identification and corrective actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with client and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
• Experience in client relationship management, proposal development, scope preparation, or business development.
• Willingness to travel regularly in CA, NV, and AZ; onsite work with possible remote or hybrid arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance programs for complex energy, transmission, utility, transportation, water, and infrastructure projects.
• Serve as senior field compliance lead for a major transmission upgrade project in southwestern Nevada.
• Supervise and coordinate environmental inspectors, providing field guidance.
• Monitor construction activities for permit and mitigation compliance.
• Oversee protection measures for desert tortoise and other species.
• Coordinate with BLM, developers, contractors, and environmental teams.
• Oversee programs for biological/cultural resources, stormwater, erosion, air, noise, restoration.
• Evaluate contractor performance, document field observations, coordinate corrective actions.
• Manage environmental reports, audits, agency submissions, field records, and regulatory documentation.
• Lead client discussions, meetings, and regulatory consultations.
• Mentor and support project staff with guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to project planning, proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and business development.
• Support additional environmental assignments across California, Nevada, and Arizona.
• Maintain safety and environmental stewardship and high-quality project delivery.
