Job summary

WSP USA in Atlanta, GA seeks a Senior Technical Environmental Compliance Specialist to lead regulatory compliance programs for airport operations and capital improvement projects. The role requires directing environmental reviews, SWPPP implementation, and coordinating with agencies, consultants, and stakeholders.

The candidate will interpret complex regulations, provide senior technical direction, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Resources, or a related field.
• 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or related area.
• Experience leading complex technical assignments and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage environmental compliance activities including stormwater, wastewater, surface water quality, industrial discharges, deicing operations, construction stormwater, spill prevention, and spill response.
• Provide technical leadership for permit compliance, inspections, monitoring, reporting, corrective actions, notifications, and documentation.
• Review permits, regulations, agency guidance, and data to identify compliance risks.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, airport departments, consultants, contractors, tenants, and airlines to ensure compliance obligations.
• Direct field investigations, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Support capital improvement projects through environmental reviews and SWPPP implementation.
• Interpret environmental regulations and guidance to develop compliance strategies and action plans.
• Provide senior technical direction to consultants, inspectors, and project teams.
• Direct technical work, coordinate activities, monitor performance against permit conditions and schedules.
