Job summary

GE Vernova in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Lead Environmental Specialist to implement and maintain the environmental program across air, water, hazardous waste, and chemical management. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and provide expert technical advice to support EHS requirements.

The role requires strong regulatory knowledge, experience with ISO 14001, and the ability to manage permits, emissions inventories, and training programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline from an accredited university or 6+ years EHS experience.
• Minimum 2 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or fixed facilities.
• Regulatory permitting, compliance, and EHS management systems experience (ISO 14001).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Support air and water compliance for the Wilmington site and related media.
• Provide technical guidance on environmental challenges and regulatory issues.
• Assist site permitting and emissions inventory calculations for air and other media.
• Lead waste management and act as business waste lead.
• Support reporting, licensing, and permitting to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain relationships with local regulatory agencies.
• Contribute to Emergency Response Organization as environmental support.
• Implement and update EHS programs to ensure compliance.
• Stay current with environmental regulations and ISO 14001 requirements.
• Provide project management for regulatory compliance and training programs.
