Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks an Environmental Coordinator Senior to coordinate environmental compliance programs, permits, and corporate policies across regions and projects. You will train leadership and staff on requirements and ensure asset-wide regulatory compliance.

Key programs include storage tanks, hazardous materials, waste management, spill response, water and air monitoring, asbestos/PCB management, and emergency planning.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in an environmental, science, or related discipline.
• Minimum eight years of environmental experience with an associate degree or six years with a bachelor’s degree.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement environmental activities ensuring compliance with laws and Company policies.
• Provide training and assistance on environmental requirements and develop training materials.
• Support in release/discharge events, notify agencies, coordinate cleanup, and report to regulators.
• Promote safe work practices and safeguard employees, contractors, and facilities.
• Support environmental compliance reviews and site assessments, including remediation projects.
• Coordinate public inquiries and communicate environmental issues internally.
• Develop and maintain environmental documents per content management standards.
• Review disposal contractors and manage Environmental Services contracts.
