Job summary

CRH Americas Building Products seeks a Senior Environmental Specialist/Environmental Engineer to lead environmental compliance across sites. You will promote best practices, partner with EHS leadership, and support capital projects while aligning with CRH policies.

The role reports to the Senior Director – Corporate E&S and collaborates with operations and management to meet regulatory requirements and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EHS, Science or Engineering or relevant experience.
• 3+ years in EHS and/or manufacturing with EHS responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills across departments to facilitate integration.
• Expert knowledge of air quality or other environmental regulations.
• Strong project and process management skills.
• Ability to navigate regulatory agency and industry web content.
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Nationally recognized Certifications (FE, PE, CHMM, PMP, CIH) preferred.
• OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper or DOT HazMat training preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain all environmental permits for plants, sites and projects, especially air permits during capital projects and mergers.
• Prepare and submit USEPA and state reports including Annual Emission Inventory and permit renewals.
• Ensure compliance tests are conducted within permit timeframes.
• Maintain documentation for inspections, audits, complaints and investigations in EMS.
• Report permit violations to management and regulatory agencies when required.
• Coordinate compliance reviews, inspections and internal assessments.
• Stay informed on environmental legislation, trends and best practices.
• Review documents to ensure ongoing EMA compliance.
• Develop and update environmental requirements with IPG and CRH.
• Ensure annual reports are completed and communicated to field staff and contractors.
• Develop and implement environmental plans for air quality, stormwater, oil spill, recycling, hazardous materials and training.
• Track compliance metrics and implement performance improvements.
• Support site EMS improvements with colleagues.
