Job summary

Allied World is seeking an Environmental Casualty underwriter to manage a profitable portfolio through disciplined underwriting and broker relationships. The role requires evaluating exposures across General Liability, Automobile Liability, Employers Liability, Pollution Liability, and Umbrella/Excess Liability, with a focus on pricing, coverage terms, and risk assessment. Travel is approx.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of commercial primary casualty and/or excess casualty underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting lead and/or unsupported excess casualty business is highly desirable.
• Environmental casualty experience is beneficial but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with brokers, insureds, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong business development and relationship management skills.
• Excellent organizational and desk management skills.
• CPCU, ARM, or other designation preferred.
• Undergraduate degree required.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal Environmental Casualty business under Allied World guidelines.
• Evaluate General Liability, Automobile Liability, Employers Liability, Pollution Liability, and Umbrella/Excess Liability exposures.
• Develop pricing, limits, attachment points, deductibles and coverage terms.
• Prepare quotes, binders, and underwriting referrals with well-supported files.
• Develop and maintain broker relationships to generate new business and retain accounts.
• Coordinate broker marketing calls, account stewardship, and industry events.
• Monitor market conditions and adjust underwriting strategy as needed.
• Collaborate with internal partners (actuarial, claims, risk management) to optimize portfolio performance.
