Job summary

Allied World is seeking an Environmental Underwriter to support underwriting of environmental liability products (site pollution, contractor’s pollution, and contractors professional) from our Chicago office. You will build strong broker relationships, prepare quotes and binders, and maintain underwriting files while traveling about 25% of the time.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of environmental underwriting experience, CPCU or ARM designation preferred, and a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience underwriting environmental liability insurance products (site pollution, contractor’s pollution, and contractors professional).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external contacts.
• Ability to develop broker relationships and generate new business opportunities.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; ability to manage multiple accounts.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal environmental insurance products and negotiate policy terms and conditions.
• Broker distribution: develop broker relationships to generate new business and manage accounts.
• Prepare quotes, binders, referrals, and document underwriting files.
• Develop and manage relationships with brokers, insureds, and internal personnel to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate marketing calls, account stewardship meetings, and events to promote Allied World offerings.
