Job summary

Allied World is seeking an Environmental Casualty underwriter to manage and grow a profitable portfolio through disciplined underwriting and broker relationships in the Los Angeles area.

The role requires evaluating General Liability, Automobile Liability, Employers Liability, and Umbrella/Excess Liability, developing pricing, terms, and structures, and collaborating with internal partners to support the portfolio's success.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of commercial casualty underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting lead and/or unsupported excess casualty is highly desirable.
• Environmental casualty experience beneficial but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for negotiations with brokers and clients.
• Strong business development and relationship management to generate new opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal Environmental Casualty business per underwriting guidelines and authority.
• Evaluate exposures across Liability lines and assess operations, products, fleet, and transfer risks.
• Structure primary and excess casualty programs with pricing, limits, and coverage terms.
• Review submissions and financials to form a comprehensive risk assessment.
• Prepare quotes, binders, referrals, and maintain complete underwriting files.
• Develop relationships with brokers to generate new business and deepen market presence.
