Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Consultant with expertise in environmental assessment and planning to lead statutory assessments and planning reports. The role involves coordinating with local authorities, consultees and clients while ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality outputs.

You will mentor junior staff, contribute to bid and business development, and enjoy flexible remote/hybrid working arrangements with ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have substantial experience in HRA, EIA or LVIA projects for local plans or planning apps.
• Strong report-writing skills with robust, well-evidenced assessments.
• Experience managing projects, client liaison and coordinating with statutory consultees.
• Ability to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to their development.
• Understanding of UK planning legislation and environmental assessment regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of environmental assessment projects across HRA, EIA, LVIA regions.
• Prepare, manage and review statutory environmental assessments and reports.
• Act as primary contact for local authorities, consultees and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with planning legislation and environmental regulations.
• Support local plan assessments, planning applications and related projects.
• Mentor junior consultants and graduates.
• Assist with budgets, programmes and resources; contribute to bids.
