Job summary

Stantec’s Environmental Services practice seeks a Senior Acoustical Consultant to support noise, vibration, and acoustics (NVA) projects across the U.S. Gulf or Mountain regions. You will collaborate with scientists and engineers on diverse sectors including renewable energy, oil & gas, data centers, and transportation.

This hybrid role offers two days in-office weekly with opportunities to lead studies, manage client relationships, and contribute to permitting and public outreach efforts.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental acoustics/noise assessments.
• Experience with acoustic measurement practices, software, and instrumentation.
• Experience with acoustical modeling software (CadnaA preferred) and technical tools (spreadsheets, GIS, AutoCAD).
• Experience in managing multiple projects and tasks concurrently in a client-facing role.
• Experience reviewing local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Willingness and ability to travel periodically for field work across the United States.
• Experience with natural gas pipeline and compressor station noise studies (FERC requirements) is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Experience as a manager with direct reports is beneficial.
• Experience with vibration, underwater noise, transportation noise, and building acoustics is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Matlab and Python for data processing and analysis is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage noise/acoustics projects from proposal to completion, delivering on schedule and within scope and budget.
• Supervise junior staff and contribute to training in field work, analysis, modeling, and report preparation.
• Conduct and oversee staff completing field measurements, technical analyses, modeling, and reporting.
• Analyze acoustical modeling results, evaluate mitigation measures, and document outcomes in technical reports.
• Present at public meetings and act as expert witness for acoustics projects.
• Contribute to project proposals by developing task scopes and cost estimates.
• Maintain professional growth through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
