Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks a Chief Systems Engineer to act as the senior technical authority for network operations and engineering teams. The role blends strategic vision with hands-on engineering to guide enterprise modernization efforts and technical excellence.

You will architect scalable networks, lead design efforts, and collaborate with customer leadership to align technology investments with mission goals. Remote work and senior security credentials are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT/engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of enterprise IT engineering and architecture experience.
• Design and architect scalable, secure voice, video, wireless, and data networks.
• Lead development of high-level and low-level network designs (HLD/LLD).
• Deploy and integrate Cisco-based enterprise and data center solutions.
• Configure and support advanced technologies including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, and EVPN.
• Strong knowledge of network monitoring and management systems such as Cisco Catalyst Center, SolarWinds, and similar.
• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure, systems integration, security and compliance.
• Experience with MBSE and digital twins.
• Clearance Required: Secret

Responsibilities

• Architect and design scalable, secure voice, video, wireless, and data networks and associated network management systems.
• Lead creation of High‑Level and Low‑Level Designs (HLD/LLD).
• Deploy and integrate Cisco enterprise and data center technologies.
• Configure and support advanced routing and switching technologies including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, and EVPN.
• Act as the primary technical advisor to customer leadership.
• Develop and maintain the enterprise technical strategy and modernization roadmap.
• Lead architectural reviews, technical decision‑making boards, and risk assessments.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies to enhance reliability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency or meet customer new requirements.
• Drive modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Validate technical approaches through hands‑on analysis, engineering reviews, and proof‑of‑concept work.
• Partner with operations teams to enhance service delivery and technical execution.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for complex, enterprise‑level issues.
• Mentor engineering and operations staff and elevate technical standards across the program.
• Align technology investments with mission priorities and stakeholder objectives.
