Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage Information Technology department seeks an experienced IT professional to join the Infrastructure team. You will support and optimize the organization's compute, storage, network, and enterprise applications while collaborating with staff across departments.

Key responsibilities include leading high-complexity projects, providing technical guidance, and ensuring secure, standardized builds. A strong background in SQL, VMware, NetApp, and cloud services is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and nine (9) years of experience in the field related to the position.
• Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or similar discipline, and seven (7) years of experience in the field related to the position.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or similar discipline, and five (5) years of experience in the field related to the position.
• Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required non-specialized experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Support Municipal infrastructure services, compute, storage, network and enterprise applications.
• Provide technical consultation and support to users and IT staff.
• Lead technical projects and resources to achieve high-complexity solutions.
• Diagnose, isolate and debugs software problems and perform problem resolution.
• Monitor systems capacity and performance and provide complex technical support.
• Review, advise and design standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs vs. benefits and impact on the enterprise business process and goals.
• Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards.
• Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise's architecture needs.
• Perform other required duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or similar discipline

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or similar discipline

Master’s degree in a related field
