Job summary

Amplitude is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Enterprise Engineering to own and deliver high‑stakes customer outcomes. You’ll work closely with customers, product, and engineering to resolve complex problems, ship fixes and features, and establish scalable technical practices across the stack.

You will thrive as a pragmatic generalist with backend/infrastructure depth, delivering production‑grade solutions while maintaining strong ownership and clear communication in fast‑paced settings.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering experience and ability to contribute production‑quality code in a large evolving codebase.
• Generalist mindset with depth in backend, distributed systems, infrastructure, data systems, or developer platforms.
• Excellent debugging instincts to reproduce and fix problems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Serve on the engineering front line for key customer accounts in Unthread, our Slack aggregation layer.
• Read code, trace behavior, inspect production signals, and build clear explanations.
• Diagnose and fix bugs, then validate outcomes with customers.
• Design and implement features to solve customer problems efficiently and with high quality.
• Act as engineering point of contact for urgent issues in key customer Slack channels.
• Represent engineering in customer office hours and recurring meetings for selected accounts.
• Partner with customer-facing and product teams while maintaining ownership and clear escalation paths.
• Identify recurring patterns and improve tooling, observability, APIs, and surfaces.
• Help define operating model, technical standards, and culture of the new team.
