Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Des Moines, IA seeks an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead architecture governance and modernization initiatives. You will drive cloud strategies, AI adoption, and secure design patterns across multiple engineering teams.

The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder influence, and hands-on technical depth in cloud platforms and security, with travel up to 5% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 9 years of experience including security controls and encryption.
• Minimum 4 years of cloud architecture including system integration and analysis.
• Expert knowledge of network protocols and enterprise network architecture.
• Experience migrating to the public cloud (AWS, Google, Microsoft).
• Experience managing CASB, including SSO and encryption.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong leadership, communication, and change-management skills.
• Travel up to 5%.

Responsibilities

• Define and govern enterprise architecture standards, principles, and best practices.
• Lead architecture reviews and provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams.
• Develop technology roadmaps aligned with business objectives and modernization initiatives.
• Establish reusable reference architectures, frameworks, and governance processes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive adoption strategies.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI for business process improvement and engineering productivity.
• Design and govern enterprise AI solutions, including responsible AI practices.
• Facilitate domain discovery and event storming workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
• Define bounded contexts, aggregates, domain services, and domain events.
