Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is seeking an Enterprise Architect to define, govern, and evolve enterprise‑wide technology architecture that aligns with business strategy and cloud priorities.

The role partners with business and IT leaders to establish target architectures and roadmaps across applications, data, integration, security, and cloud domains, ensuring secure, scalable, and modern solutions. The position supports remote, hybrid, or onsite work per policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years’ IT experience in progressively responsible roles.
• Minimum 5 years in an architectural role performing design, development, and support of enterprise systems.
• Certifications in enterprise, cloud, security, and/or data architecture are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture principles, reference architectures, and standards across domains.
• Develop target‑state architectures and roadmaps aligned to business capabilities and risk posture.
• Lead architecture governance ensuring security‑by‑design and operational readiness.
• Provide end‑to‑end solution architecture including data flows, identity, and security controls.
• Guide modernization and platform adoption (APIs, event‑driven, containers) with migration paths.
• Shape cloud guardrails (Azure‑first, landing zones, cost governance).
• Define data architecture direction for analytics and AI use cases.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance to address HIPAA and regulatory needs.
• Evaluate technologies and vendors for enterprise fit and TCO.
• Mentor teams and promote CI/CD, IaC, testing, and observability.
