Job summary

New Castle County Government seeks a senior engineering leader to assist the Public Works General Manager in overseeing capital improvement planning, design and construction. You will guide policy development, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure high-quality service to county residents.

The role requires at least five years of project management in sanitary sewer or stormwater projects, plus a Professional Engineer license and a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project management for sanitary sewer or stormwater planning, design, and construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineer license by the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers.
• Must pass a Class III County physical examination and background check.

Responsibilities

• Directs planning and management of capital improvement projects.
• Oversees reviews of development proposals regarding sewer capacities.
• Develops long- and short-term goals for the division and department.
• Assists in policy formulation and execution for the department.
• Supervises and trains staff; promotes excellent public service.
