Job summary

Stafford County is seeking a Project Manager to lead and coordinate design, construction, and project management of utilities and public works projects. The role includes managing budgets, schedules, and contractor coordination within the Capital Improvement Plan.

The position requires a degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or related field with several years of experience; PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or related field; 3 years of experience for PM I or 5 years for PM II.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages and guides to successful completion, in a timely manner and within budget, complex water and sanitary sewer utility engineering, building engineering design and/or construction projects that are part of the Capital Improvement Plan and Utilities Department.
  • Reviews construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and other project documents.
  • Prepares bid documents, requests for proposals, contracts, and purchase orders; reviews proposals; maintains project records and files.
  • Tracks budget; approves invoices; prepares project reports.
  • Coordinates with other county departments for reviews.
  • Inspects work in progress; prepares or reviews progress reports.
  • Prepares plans and specifications; coordinates with consulting engineers, contractors, and O&M personnel.
  • Evaluates RFI and change orders; ensures permits and inspections are on schedule.
  • Performs duties of project engineer on construction projects.
