Job summary

Propel is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager and Tech Lead for the Marketplace team. You will set the technical vision, design scalable systems, and guide a 3–5 person engineering group across sub-teams in a remote-first environment.

You’ll champion hiring, team development, and collaboration with product, design, and data to deliver impactful offers to millions of users while aligning with Propel’s mission to strengthen social safety nets.

Qualifications

10+ years designing and building web or mobile apps (ad tech or consumer products).
At least 2 years managing engineers in a startup remote-first environment.
Strong AI skills with the ability to apply AI effectively.

Responsibilities

Set technical vision for the marketplace team and build a system that serves helpful offers to users.
Manage and coach 3–5 reports across multiple sub-teams and help them advance in their careers.
Develop team-level processes to foster consistency and collaboration in a remote-first culture.
Help sustain efficient cross-functional collaboration between engineering, product, design, and data and advocate for system improvements.
Ensure smooth onboarding for new engineers and help a growing team iterate on the process.
