Job summary

Obviant seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to own and grow one team, either data engineering or product/web, depending on strengths. You will set the technical bar, drive delivery cadence, and mentor engineers while staying close to the code.

You will hire, scale, and manage the team with high standards in a fast-moving environment. The role emphasizes ownership, accountability, and cross-domain collaboration to align technical work with mission goals.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience, including time leading and growing engineering teams.
• Real technical depth with system design ability and know-how to cut features to ship first.
• Track record of owning delivery for a team: planning, estimation, and execution.
• Direct experience handling hard management feedback, coaching, and exits when needed.
• Strong communication across leadership, engineers, and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable with high autonomy and accountability in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction with senior engineers and guide design choices.
• Own engineering standards and quality bar; define what good means on the team.
• Mentor and develop the team; build a culture of quality over process.
• Step in tactically to unblock the team or achieve a business-critical outcome.
• Partner with Product, Design, and GTM to align engineering work with business goals.
