Job summary

GameChanger is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing squad and shape the strategy, roadmap, and operating model for a partner-facing platform. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and senior engineers to balance rapid learning with long-term scalability.

You will drive backend/API excellence, develop leaders, and align cross-team efforts across architecture, security, and reliability, reporting to an Engineering Director.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams and developing engineers at multiple levels.
• Experience shaping multi-quarter strategy, turning ambiguous business goals into clear outcomes, and balancing immediate delivery with longer-term technical health.
• Experience building or operating external, customer- or partner-facing APIs, developer platforms, integrations, or distributed backend systems.
• Strong technical judgment and depth in backend systems or API design, with breadth to engage in architecture conversations.
• Understanding of API product concerns: authentication/authorization, backwards compatibility, versioning, documentation, observability, reliability, and support.
• Demonstrated success building healthy, inclusive teams, coaching engineers, and growth opportunities.
• Ability to influence without direct authority and align across teams and leadership.
• Experience creating scalable processes improving outcomes across multiple teams.
• Experience with third-party developers, strategic partners, or platform ecosystems (strongly preferred).
• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, Redis, or PostgreSQL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering squad and shape group direction.
• Partner with Product, Design, Business Development, and senior leaders to define multi-quarter strategy and measurable outcomes.
• Translate partner and business needs into clear priorities with durable platform investments.
• Coordinate work across teams and systems to deliver end-to-end partner experience.
• Anticipate dependencies, risks, and bottlenecks; establish early-resolution mechanisms.
• Maintain a high bar for API craft: authentication, versioning, docs, observability, and operational readiness.
• Use feedback and metrics to learn and invest in product outcomes.
• Coach and develop engineers and leaders; create growth opportunities.
• Hire and onboard engineers; foster ownership, customer focus, and continuous learning.
• Design processes that improve delivery and technical quality across teams.
• Communicate strategy, progress, and risks to stakeholders.
• Lead cross-team initiatives and shape engineering culture and management practices.
