Job summary

Trainline is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering within the Customer Growth pillar, spanning web, backend and mobile. You will oversee Engineering Managers across multiple squads, guiding delivery and aligning technical work with business outcomes.

The role emphasizes coaching, architecture, and a customer‑first mindset as we grow railcards, subscriptions and value exchange across platforms.

Experience leading engineering teams and delivering multi‑team initiatives.
Proven ability to develop people and grow leaders.
Ability to inspire trust and autonomy at all levels.

Responsibilities

Lead multiple squads and Engineering Managers, coaching and performance conversations.
Own end-to-end delivery across squads to plan, execute and deliver on time.
Partner with Product, Design, Data and Commercial to align technical delivery with business outcomes.
Guide technical direction and architecture across fullstack web, backend and mobile squads.
Bring coherence across railcards growth, subscriptions and customer value exchange through technical strategy.
Promote engineering best practices and a culture of innovation.
Drive monitoring, incident management and operational excellence.
