Job summary

Remitly, Inc. in Seattle, WA, seeks a Senior Engineering Manager for Global Transfer Flow to guide the team that builds the money transfer experience—from recipient selection to submission—and to own the APIs and backend coordination across markets.

You will drive a multi-year technical strategy, modernize transfer APIs and data models, and move from regional implementations to configurable workflows while leveraging AI safely to boost productivity and customer experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with technical leadership.
• 5+ years hiring and managing engineering teams.
• Experience leading architecture changes in a large codebase.
• Expertise with backend or full-stack languages and cloud (AWS).
• Ability to apply AI to software development and tooling.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hire, coach, and develop engineers.
• Set clear expectations and manage performance.
• Own the technical strategy and lead architecture changes across teams.
• Modernize transfer APIs and data models for flexible onboarding across markets.
• Move from regional implementations to configurable workflows with backend-driven progress.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Analytics to set priorities and measurable goals.
• Own delivery, staffing, and quarterly planning.
• Champion responsible use of AI coding tools with proper review.
