Job summary

IBM is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Experience Foundations team. You will shape the UI foundations, patterns, and infrastructure to support the entire Experience organization across multiple interfaces including API/CLI/TF/VSCode.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions in security, networking, and billing domains, and partner with Product and Design to deliver impactful, scalable interfaces for governance and data platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams.
• Strong frontend engineering background with React and TypeScript.
• Ability to distill complex domains into clear patterns and best practices.
• Experience creating reusable patterns adopted across multiple teams or products.
• Proven mentoring and leadership of engineers across disciplines.
• Experience partnering with Product and Design to drive execution.
• Experience collaborating with other engineering managers.
• Experience managing multiple product areas or technical domains.

Responsibilities

• Establish reusable patterns and best practices for UI engineers developing security and networking code.
• Elevate the impact of UI engineers across Governance, Flink, Kafka, Connect, Tableflow.
• Take a depth-first, hands-on approach to understanding systems and unblock teams.
• Go deep in domain areas to make sound architectural decisions for security, networking, and billing.
• Drive the evolution of Experience Foundations infrastructure to support the entire organization.
• Own PM and Design partnerships for Security, Networking, and Billing domains.
• Bridge technical and product perspectives to drive aligned outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Champion developer productivity through AI tooling adoption and process improvements.
