Symetra in the United States is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to build and scale engineering teams for a cloud-native Stop Loss platform. You will lead engineers through the full software development lifecycle and partner with Product, Architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver production-ready software.

The role requires a leader who can operate in a fast-moving environment, create structure, discipline, and transparent delivery metrics while managing a blended mix of employees,

Qualifications

• Extensive track record building and scaling software teams.
• Experience leading complex distributed teams including employees, contractors, and vendors.
• Strong in people leadership and technical leadership with delivery discipline.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and scale engineering teams for a cloud-native Stop Loss platform.
• Drive engineering execution and delivery for key platform capabilities.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, and stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions.
• Guide teams through full SDLC from design to production support.
• Influence architectural direction and ensure alignment with technical goals.
• Establish clear team structures, operating rhythms, and delivery transparency.
• Manage vendor relationships and staffing across onshore/offshore partners.
• Scale the organization through recruiting, onboarding, and growth.
