Job summary

Symetra is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers responsible for critical business applications. You will provide technical direction, oversee delivery, and build strong internal/external partnerships to align technology with business goals.

The role requires deep experience in software architecture, cloud services, and API management. You will mentor leaders, drive Agile practices, and foster a high-performing engineering culture across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience, including 2+ years managing technical teams.
• Proven experience leading teams of 7+ engineers, QA, and TPMs.
• Background as programmer/architect with C#/.NET, Java/Kotlin, TS, or Python.
• Strong cloud skills (serverless, containers); AWS/GCP/Azure preferred.
• Experience integrating APIs with external SaaS platforms and API lifecycle management.
• Familiar with CI/CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) and modern microservices.
• Exposure to AI/ML integration and Generative AI tools.
