Job summary

CVS Health Digital is seeking a Senior Manager – Software Development Engineering to lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing hands-on technical direction, architecture guidance, and mentorship while establishing measurable engineering goals aligned with business outcomes.

This Senior Engineer will drive technical strategy and execution for software initiatives by defining system requirements, architecture, timelines, and deliverables.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of overall software engineering experience with at least 5+ years of leading projects or managing directs.
• 7+ years of experience using and/or managing projects using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka to build/deploy, and maintain software applications using cloud platforms.
• 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams without direct authority, including collaboration with engineering, architecture, security, and business stakeholders.
• 3+ years of experience defining technology strategy and leading the adoption and operationalization of technologies such as AI/ML, cloud services, automation, and developer productivity tools in a large-scale enterprise environment with measurable impact.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and modern software development practices.

Responsibilities

• Own risk mitigation and production stability by identifying system vulnerabilities and driving timely resolution.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring secure coding practices and scalable architecture.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, Infrastructure, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and drive delivery.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and best practices to enhance system performance and developer productivity.
• Build high-performing teams by hiring, evaluating, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
