Job summary

Hobbsnews seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead web and mobile development with AI integrations in cloud apps. This role blends managerial oversight with hands-on coding, guiding React Native/Redux-based front-end work and collaboration with product/design teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and coordinate with cloud service teams to ensure scalable, secure solutions for customers. Hybrid onsite presence in Menlo Park.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software, with 2+ years in engineering management.
• Proven technical leader with ability to contribute to codebases when needed.
• Strong capabilities in engineering project management, planning and execution.
• Strong proficiency in React Native/Redux web and mobile development technologies.
• Experience in the B2C space and developing customer-facing apps.
• Strong experience partnering with Product Management and Product Design teams.
• Excellent people management skills and ability to lead and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage development and delivery on web and mobile, and AI in cloud-based apps.
• Ensure apps meet functional and non-functional requirements (quality, performance, scalability, security).
• Own project management and technical direction aligning with architecture and design of platform.
• Ensure engineers collaborate with cloud services for seamless integration of apps with microservices.
• Jointly own the engineering platform roadmap with leadership to steer architecture decisions.
• Mentor and manage a team of web and mobile engineers.
• Be hands-on with coding when needed.
