Job summary

IntellectEU is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering organisation, own technical strategy, and deliver secure solutions. This player-coach role requires guiding engineers while contributing hands-on code and system design across the company.

You will collaborate with the Head of Security to implement recommendations across a multi-account AWS setup, manage budgets, and drive architectural excellence in fintech/digital assets and AI initiatives. Hybrid in Miami.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in senior technical leadership.
• Hands-on contributor who designs systems and reviews code alongside teams.
• Proven experience leading Engineering Managers and multiple engineering teams.
• Strong AWS expertise including multi-account organisations, IaC, and cloud security.
• Experience aligning technology with security requirements and audits.
• Experience building production systems in digital assets or AI, ideally both.
• Strong software architecture, microservices, and disaster recovery skills.
• Experience in fintech or regulated platforms is a plus.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, cloud spend, vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering organisation, set technical strategy, and establish standards across the company.
• Act as a hands-on contributor: design systems, write/review code, and unblock delivery.
• Partner with Security to implement recommendations across AWS infrastructure and ensure timely delivery.
• Own AWS cloud infrastructure: architecture, reliability, cost, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with Product, Architects, and stakeholders to define technical solutions.
• Manage engineering budgets and vendor relationships, balancing trade-offs.
• Improve processes, reduce technical debt, and boost team productivity.
• Hire, onboard, and develop Engineering Managers and Architects.
• Foster an engineering culture of accountability, collaboration, quality, and learning.
