Virta Health seeks a Senior Manager of Engineering to set the technical direction for the team, balance investments with product work, and own complex systems spanning billing, eligibility, and enrollment. You will lead engineers and engineering managers, driving cross-functional alignment and delivering measurable business impact.

You will collaborate with product, data science, and operations to iterate quickly, measure outcomes, and improve the overall member experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing and providing technical leadership to engineering teams.
• Deep technical expertise across backend, frontend, data, and integrations to third-party systems, with experience in distributed services using Python and/or Go.
• Experience taking holistic ownership of complex transactional systems such as billing, financial accounting, membership eligibility, or enrollment.
• Track record of building and scaling diverse, high-performing engineering teams.
• Ability to motivate and instill ownership and thrive in cross-functional environments.

Responsibilities

• Technical Strategy & Execution: Set the technical direction across backend, frontend, data, and third-party systems, balancing investments with product delivery.
• Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain engineers while coaching managers or team leads.
• Domain & Roadmap Ownership: Own systems spanning billing, accounting, eligibility, and enrollment, defining durable roadmaps.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, product, data science, and operations to align programs and measure impact.
• Balance & Velocity: Trade off sustainable projects with shipping software to deliver user value.
• Continuous Improvement: Improve codebase, architecture, and processes across the team.
