Job summary

ComEd is seeking a Transmission & Substation Standards Engineer to develop and maintain engineering design standards for high-voltage assets (765kV to 4kV) and to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs across projects in Illinois.

You will review and update standards, collaborate with multiple engineering groups, provide technical training, and interface with IEEE/EPRI/EEI to introduce improvements, with extended hours during storms or emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or PE license required.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of standards, codes, methods, and practices in engineering.
• 7+ years of professional engineering experience.
• Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to solve complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for T&S Standards including Engineering Practices, Material Specifications, Construction Specifications and Drawings.
• Point of contact for technical questions related to material and design standards.
• Collaborate with vendors and multiple engineering groups to set standards and ensure safety and constructability.
• Lead assignments and mentor others; provide recommendations to management for reliability improvements.
