Job summary
Target is seeking a Senior Engineer for Payment Data Services to architect, implement, and optimize data pipelines and APIs across a payments ecosystem. You will influence design decisions, ensure reliability, and mentor teammates while collaborating with cross-functional partners in the U.S.
The role requires 5+ years of software development experience with Java or Kotlin, and familiarity with microservices, Kafka, and data processing.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software development experience, including Java or Kotlin.
- Experience developing APIs, Kafka, RDBMS & No-SQL data modelling and ETL pipelines for payments orchestration.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as LLMs, agentic AI, and MCP.
- Ability to work independently with cross-functional partners across geographies.
Responsibilities
- Lead code reviews, design reviews, testing, and bug fixing at the application level.
- Design and build reliable APIs and data pipelines for analytics.
- Provide technical oversight and coach others through complex issues.
- Collaborate with U.S.-based payments teams and partners to drive shared solutions.
- Explore emerging technologies including AI tools to improve workflows.
