Job summary

Trunk Tools, Inc. is hiring a senior backend integrations engineer to architect and deliver high-volume third-party integrations. You will own the integrations foundation end-to-end, debug live issues, and scale backend systems to support thousands of users.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of full-stack development experience, roughly 80% backend / 20% frontend.
• Highly proficient in TypeScript and Node (Express).
• Architecturally-minded with strong data schema modeling across relational databases.
• Deep experience building read/write integrations to third-party systems.
• Strong knowledge of ETL, data normalization, webhooks, polling, idempotency, rate limiting/back-off logic.
• Experience designing APIs (public/external APIs, versioning, OAuth).
• Experience with scheduled jobs/worker and queue systems (Prisma, BullMQ, SQS, RabbitMQ).
• Comfortable on customer calls debugging live issues and gathering integration requirements.
• Ability to instrument systems and reason about infrastructure trade-offs without a dedicated DevOps hand.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance 3rd party integrations.
• Own the integrations foundation end to end (self-serve setup, scalability, rate limiting, retries, observability).
• Debug and support live integrations (production troubleshooting with customers).
• Scale systems to support thousands of users with robust architecture.
• Ensure reliability with proper instrumentation and ownership of integration health.
• Contribute to product and architecture strategy with informed perspective.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and customer success.
