Job summary

Soltesz is seeking a Senior Engineer I to join our Rockville, Maryland team. This full-time professional role focuses on planning, design, and execution of land development projects across the Washington, D.C.

metro area, collaborating with engineers, planners, surveyors, and landscape architects. You will prepare civil site plans, design roadways and utilities, develop analyses and documentation, and coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive civil engineering and land development experience.
• Experience on projects in the Washington, DC metro area.
• Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, stormwater, and utilities.
• AutoCAD and/or MicroStation proficiency.
• Maryland PE license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site and civil plans for residential, commercial, mixed-use, and public-sector projects.
• Design roadway, grading, drainage, stormwater, sediment control, water, and sewer systems.
• Develop analyses, exhibits, graphics, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Manage project tasks to meet schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
• Support multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentor and train junior engineering and design staff.
• Contribute technical expertise throughout all project phases.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of land development projects, including:

• Preparing site and civil engineering plans for residential, commercial, mixed-use, and public-sector projects
• Designing roadway, grading, drainage, stormwater management, sediment control, water, and sewer infrastructure systems
• Developing technical analyses, exhibits, graphics, reports, and supporting documentation
• Coordinating with project managers, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies
• Managing project tasks to meet schedules, budgets, and client expectations
• Supporting multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
• Mentoring and training junior engineering and design staff
• Contributing technical expertise throughout all phases of project development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in civil engineering and land development design
• Experience working on projects throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area
• Strong understanding of site development design, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, sediment control, roadways, and utility systems
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and attention to detail
• Experience with Montgomery County projects is preferred
• Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required
