Job summary

Solstesz is seeking a Senior Engineer I to join our Lanham, Maryland team. You will work on land development design, coordinating with engineers, planners, surveyors, and landscape architects across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

The role emphasizes planning, design, and execution of diverse projects, mentoring junior staff, and delivering high-quality solutions to clients and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum 6 years of progressive civil/land development experience.
• Experience with DC/MD projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site and civil plans for residential, commercial, mixed-use, and public-sector projects.
• Design roadways, grading, drainage, stormwater, sediment control, water and sewer systems.
• Develop analyses, exhibits, graphics, reports, and supporting docs.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients and subconsultants.
• Mentor junior engineering and design staff and manage project tasks.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of land development projects, including:

• Preparing site and civil engineering plans for residential, commercial, mixed-use, and public-sector projects
• Designing roadway, grading, drainage, stormwater management, sediment control, water, and sewer infrastructure systems
• Developing technical analyses, exhibits, graphics, reports, and supporting documentation
• Coordinating with project managers, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies
• Managing project tasks to meet schedules, budgets, and client expectations
• Supporting multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
• Mentoring and training junior engineering and design staff
• Contributing technical expertise throughout all phases of project development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in civil engineering and land development design
• Experience working on projects throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area
• Strong understanding of site development design, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, sediment control, roadways, and utility systems
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and attention to detail
• Experience with Prince George's County projects is preferred
• Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required
