Job summary

Valley Water in San Jose, CA seeks a Senior Engineer to lead construction management for the Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit Project. You will supervise engineering work, review submittals, coordinate with regulators, and ensure safety and compliance throughout construction.

The ideal candidate holds a CA PE license, has six years in public works and six years in geotechnical engineering, plus leadership and communication skills to liaise with agencies, contractors, and the public.

Qualifications

• 6 years of professional engineering experience in public works construction.
• 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience with 2 years lead responsibility.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, and contract documents.
• Experience coordinating with regulators and government agencies to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

• Managing, directing, and overseeing performance of professional engineering functions for the construction of the Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit Project.
• Providing technical review of contractor submittals, RFIs, and design modifications.
• Coordination of assigned activities with other units, outside agencies, consultants, and contractors, including submittal review and inspections.
• Coordination with Dam Safety Regulatory oversight, including annual updates to the FERC Board of Consultants and regulatory reporting.
• Acquisition of remaining real estate properties needed for the Project and management of entry permissions for air monitoring stations.
• Coordination with City of Morgan Hill, County Parks, and County Roads and Airports for restoration and encroachment permit compliance.
