Senior Engineer: Building Optimization & Energy Analytics

Job summary

The Senior Engineer, BOT within the City’s DEM Building Optimization Team will lead highly technical projects across City facilities, coordinating with engineers and agency partners to deliver building optimization and energy efficiency initiatives.

In the first 18 months, you’ll manage projects independently, develop analytics to support enhanced HVAC operations, and help scale a city-wide program that reduces greenhouse gas emissions consistent with Local Law 97.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in architecture, energy management, engineering or related field.
• Apprentice program in a construction trade with energy efficiency experience, or equivalent work history.
• 4 years of energy generation or conservation experience, or equivalent combination.
• Eligibility for advanced placement or Civil Service requirements as described.

Responsibilities

• Project management of a portfolio of technical projects at City facilities.
• Provide technical oversight on designs, costs, inspections, and energy-saving tools.
• Monitor and report energy savings, GHG reductions, and costs.
• Engage with City agencies to drive project success and communications.
• Support expansion of the building optimization program with analytics and preventative maintenance.
