Job summary

New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) seeks an Energy Engineer to support planning, development, and verification of energy-efficiency projects.

The role requires engineering analyses, review of submissions, and collaboration with facilities teams to improve energy performance across NYC Health Department facilities. Hybrid work with potential for some remote work is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required.
• Experience in energy management, energy audits, or commissioning is preferred.
• Familiarity with energy-modeling, utility data analysis, and M&V methods.
• Knowledge of energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and high-performance building guidelines.
• Credentials such as CEM/CEA/Building Commissioning certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform energy calculations and modeling to evaluate energy-conservation measures.
• Review mechanical, electrical, and control design documents for energy performance.
• Support energy-efficiency, electrification, and building-management projects from design to closeout.
• Analyze system performance using data, trends, and field observations to identify improvements.
• Support commissioning and retro-commissioning activities and verify system operation.
