Job summary

NYC Health Department Energy Management Unit seeks an Energy Conservation Specialist to plan, develop, implement, and verify energy-efficiency projects across facilities. You will analyze system performance, review consultant submissions, and collaborate with facilities and maintenance teams to improve energy use and emission reductions.

The role involves commissioning, trend-data analysis, and preparing technical documentation to quantify energy savings and project effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, building science, energy management, or related field.
• Two years of professional energy-management or facilities engineering experience preferred.
• Experience reviewing mechanical/electrical/controls drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform energy calculations and modeling to evaluate energy-conservation measures, savings, and payback.
• Review design documents and contractor submittals for energy projects to ensure energy-performance and code compliance.
• Support development and implementation of energy-efficiency, electrification, and HVAC projects from assessment through closeout.
• Analyze system performance using building-management systems and data to identify deficiencies and propose corrective actions.
• Assist in commissioning and retro-commissioning activities, including testing and trend-data analysis.
• Prepare memoranda, reports, and cost estimates related to energy projects.
