Job summary

EDP Renewables North America seeks a Global Energy Management Lead to optimize its ERCOT and SPP portfolio. Lead day-ahead scheduling, hedging, and basis strategies while ensuring compliance with risk policies and regulatory requirements. Drive data analytics to improve performance and profitability.

The role requires hands-on market experience, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with Risk, Asset Operations, and external market participants in a hybrid Houston environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or STEM fields.
• 6+ years of experience in power scheduling, trading/hedging, and basis management in ERCOT and SPP.
• Hands-on experience structuring short-term off-take agreements for wholesale power.
• Knowledge of North America power market software (YES Energy, Enverus, Genscape).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Excel proficiency; Power BI knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust power scheduling and trading strategies for ERCOT and SPP.
• Develop and manage hedging strategies for wholesale electricity prices and locational basis.
• Responsible for day-ahead scheduling, hedges execution, and basis hedges procurement (CRRs/TCRs).
• Optimize EDP’s merchant portfolio in line with Energy Management goals.
• Monitor and analyze power market trends, regulatory changes, and risk factors.
