Job summary

EDP Renewables North America LLC is seeking an experienced professional to lead short- and medium-term asset optimization across its ERCOT and SPP portfolio in the Houston area. You will strategize day-ahead scheduling, hedging, and risk controls to maximize merchant value in wholesale markets.

The role requires hands-on market knowledge, data analytics proficiency, and the ability to collaborate with Risk, Asset Operations, and external stakeholders in a hybrid Houston, TX work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or other STEM fields; graduate studies are a plus.
• Minimum 6+ years of experience in power scheduling, trading/hedging, and basis management in ERCOT and SPP.
• Hands-on experience structuring and negotiating short-term off-take agreements for wholesale power.
• Knowledge of North America power markets software (e.g. YES Energy, Enverus, Genscape).
• Analytical, problem-solving and strong communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel; Power BI familiarity preferred.
• Able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement power scheduling and trading strategies in ERCOT and SPP.
• Develop and manage hedging strategies for wholesale electricity prices and locational basis.
• Responsible for day-ahead scheduling, power hedges execution, and basis hedge procurement (CRRs/TCRs).
• Optimize EDP’s merchant portfolio in line with Energy Management goals.
• Develop and implement prop trading strategies including virtuals, futures, and FTRs.
• Monitor power market trends and regulatory changes to maximize portfolio value.
• Collaborate with Risk, Asset Operations and external market participants.
